Inspiration Elevator July Challenge

Inspiration Elevator

You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow. You can view all of the challenges our new Inspiration Elevator Blog, here.

This month at Inspiration Elevator, it was my turn to come up with a challenge. I thought long and hard on this. I haven't scrapped many layouts about me, much less my childhood, so I decided this would be a great challenge for everyone:

"I have been thinking lately, that I have only done one layout of my childhood and realized that maybe some day, my kids or grandkids would enjoy looking at a few more pages and learning about my siblings, my parents and I.
So my challenge for you this month is to create a page about a childhood memory of yours. It can be a good, a bad, a funny, a photoless or whatever you choose kind of layout.
Just remember to add journaling to tell the story behind your childhood memory.
Can't wait to see your projects!"

I choose to do a layout about farm life. I grew up on a dairy farm and we milked 40 some cows. I swore when I grew up, I would never marry a farmer- it's way too much work!
 LOL!
Here is my layout:

I used an older October Afternoon line, Sasparilla for my layout. I added some paint and stitching.
Here is a close up:

My journaling reads:
Growing up on a farm was hard work. Getting up at 5:00 a.m. every morning to milk was so hard as a kid. Farm life taught me so much, especially that hard work really pays off!
I can remember being about 7 or 8 years old and we loved playing hide and seek. One day Laurie, Mark and I decided to play hide and seek in the oats field. Well we found out later that day, that the oats field was not a great place to play hide and seek according to my Dad. We knocked down a heck of a lot of oats and my Dad was not a happy camper! Needless to say, we never played in the oats field again.

I would love to see what you do with this challenge, just leave a link to your layout here or on the Inspiration Elevator Blog.
