Sing Happy Birthday

Hey there!
We celebrated my Dad's 83rd birthday last month! I used a few photos from his party along with a sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap and  challenges at Scrap Our Stash and Paper Issues for this layout:

I used an older Simple Stories birthday collection. I added watercolors to my background. I fussy cut the word "celebrate", the number "83" and the borders. I added rhinestones to the border along with some stitching:

I fussy cut the party hat, green stars and "happy" banner. I added a few orange puffy stars from Bella Blvd.

I did some more fussy cutting here on the red star and present. I wrote my journaling on the "Another year older" tag and tucked it behind my layers:

Here's the sketch:

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

  2. Really nice, Lisa. I love the soft watercolour effect on the white cardstock. All the different embellishments and pre-printed words/phrases bring home the birthday theme. Great idea to use black & white photos as not to clash with the paper line you chose. Beautiful work, as always.

  8. How did you get him to wear that hat :) . This stitching is top notch. I love the watercolor background, but I always wonder where to place it. Do you dry set your layout, then decide where to put the background? So very pleased you played along with us at Sketch N Scrap! Your participation is much appreciated!

    1. Hi Sharon,
I pretty much design my whole layout, remove everything, then add my background work. I blot it with paper towel most of the time, so there isnt too much drying time. Hope this answers your questions😀 Thanks for all your sweet comments!
