Dream & Wonder

Hey there scrappy friends!
I love reading the My Mind's Eye Blog and do it almost daily. When I saw their June sketch, I fell in love with it and had to play along! Well, I finally had time this morning, I put off the weeding, at least for a bit and created this layout using a Miss Caroline paper for my background and Collectables paper and embellies for the rest. I also snuck on a few stamps from the Sweetest Thing collection:

Here are a few close ups:

and here is the fabulous sketch I just couldn't resist:

Now off to do some weeding before it gets too hot.
Have a great day!

Party Gala

Hey there!
LGS has an added challenge this month because of there being 5 Mondays this month, FUN! The challenge was to use an ad as inspiration.

I used some old Pink Paislee papers and embellies to create this layout of Bender on his birthday in March:

Here is the ad:

I chose to use the design and colors of the ad.

Hope you will play along with us this month and link up your layouts on the LGS blog.
Have a great week!

This Makes Me Ridiculously Happy!

Happy Friday scrappy friends!
There is a new sketch up on the My Scraps & More Sketches Blog today.
I used Chic Tags Happy Place for this layout of Sierra and Austin. These 2 used to fight all the time, but now they are getting along so well. It's almost scary, LOL! I wonder if they are going to gang up on their dad and I? LOL

I added some watercolor and stamping to the background and used 4 of the 3x4 cards with this line:

Some close ups:

It does make me so happy to see them finally getting along!

It was my turn to post the card challenge over on Turtle Soup on Sunday and just wanted to share it here as well.
My challenge is with summer here, we have lots of bugs, so I would love to see a bug on your card, tag or layout.
Here is my card with a lady bug on it:

What do you think? Easy peasy! Would love to have you play along with us over there.

There Is Hope: Inspiration Elevator June Challenge

Welcome to another month of Inspiration Elevator!

Our main purpose here at IE is to challenge ourselves, each other and YOU to take the creative process to the next level;  to inspire growth and change in our scrapbooking beyond the mundane.
You can see all of Inspiration Elevator's previous challenges at our blog and catch us on Facebook and Instagram (soon!) too.

This month's challenge is issued by the innovative Michelle Hernandez. Michelle's style is about telling the story with a clean and simple, yet artsy approach, an awareness of current trends, and garnished with her use of chipboard and often neutral colours. Here is her challenge for us, in her own words:
The challenge for June 15th is- make a public scrapbook page. You are making a page to go up at work or to give away to a family member to put up in their space. In your blog post you will tell us how knowing this page isn't going in a book or in your home changed your style. Did you go all out and make something that is 3D? Did you suppress your love of a particular color or product? How do you feel about the page being public- outside your regular audience of scrapbook lovers who read your blog or open your books at home?

My sister, Connie, was diagnosed with breast cancer back in February and has been going through chemo. She felt good enough to come home over Memorial weekend, so my family got together. Some of us had our "Connie Strong" t-shirts on and decided to get some pics.
For the challenge, I decided to go shabby chic, which is something I have never done before, and create a layout for Connie to display in her home. I choose this route, because I feel shabby chic is hard to get into a page protector because of the bulky flowers and embellies and because I wanted to "create" something for Connie. Also because I have been dying to try the shabby chic look!
How do I feel about the page being public? I am actually very proud of this page! It took me forever to create and I love the outcome, but I have also realized, if I scrapped this way, it would take me forever to finish an album, LOL!

I used My Mind's Kate & Co.(papers), Me & My Big Ideas (breast cancer embellies), Recollection flowers, Heidi Swapp mask and miscellaneous bling.

I tried a new technique- wetting the paper, folding it, tearing it and then added ink to the folds:

I used light modeling paste with a mask  and then added watercolor to it:

And a few more close ups:

Thanks for the wonderful challenge this month Michelle! I love my page!

Time 2gether

Happy Father's Day!
It's reveal day up on the Just Imagine blog today! Today we are celebrating the men in our lives by creating anything to do with men or Father's Day.
I decided to create a layout about 2 men in my life that are very dear to me- my son, Austin and my dear husband, Greg.
These photos were taken by my friend, Julie, in April when they went to a Brewer game. I used the Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch #916 for my border and added the fall away piece (opposite side of the patterned paper) to the top of my layout to create a banner. I used the same punch with insert B to punch my corners. I used My Mind's Eye Kate & Co.:

Here is a close up of the banner:

I added some light modeling paste with a stencil and added watercolor. I used a variety of things on my foam Thickers- watercolor and Gelatos. This is a close up of one corner:

The border close up:

It's not very often that I write my journaling on the base of my layout for fear that I will goof up, but with the lines, I knew I would be safe;)

Here is the punch I used:

I used this sketch by Karan Gerber at Sketchabilities:

Hope you will stop on over to the Just Imagine blog and check out what the rest of the design team did. Have a great day!
